This August, the musicians of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra are joining co-founder Daniel Barenboim for a 12-concert tour in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with soloists Kian Soltani and Michael Barenboim. For the first time, a selection of the program will be led by guest conductor Lahav Shani.
The orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim will present Johannes Brahms’ Concerto for Violin, Violoncello and Orchestra in A minor Op. 102 with soloists Kian Soltani and Michael Barenboim, as well as César Franck’s Symphony in D minor FWV 48.
The program led by Lahav Shani will feature Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major Op. 83 with Daniel Barenboim at the piano, as well as Sergey Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D major ‘Classical’ Op. 25. The summer program will also include the Divertimento for string orchestra Sz. 113 by Béla Bartók.
